Croissants and homemade raspberry jam are a winning combination for Debbie Mims and Catriona Wilson of Mansfield, Victoria. A combination that has helped them make a great contribution to their local community, particularly at Rosehaven Hospice.

Deb took on the Fundraising Coordinator position at the local kindergarten in 2006, and eventually became the captain of the Racqueteers – Rosehaven’s Cancer Council Relay for Life team.

Selling croissants was already a staple of the fundraising efforts for this team. When Catriona and her family joined, she brought with her a raspberry jam that is considered by many in the community to be the ‘best jam ever’.

It was only natural that the idea for a ‘Christmas Combo’ would be conceived, and so the croissants and jam were sold together. This idea proved hugely popular, and for the remaining years that the team participated in Relay For Life this delicious combination was used to raise funds.

A winning recipe for hospice

In more recent times, Deb and Catriona have generously donated their time to sell their winning combination to support Rosehaven Hospice.

Since September 2020, Deb and Catriona have raised over $3000 that has provided respite care to those who can’t afford it. They have also been able to purchase a Knee walker for Rosehaven Hospice, which is available for the public to use free of charge.

We are extremely grateful for the generosity of volunteers like Deb and Catriona and for what they provide to their community. We look forward to hearing more stories of amazing efforts and achievements such as this.
