On Thursday the 8th of April we Rosehaven welcomed Dr Chi Li, East Hume Region Palliative Care Consultancy Service Palliative Care physician, Lynne Keatings, Nurse Practitioner Candidate, East Hume Regional Palliative Care Consultancy, Pauline Montgomery, Clinical Nurse Specialist Benalla Health and Elizabeth Jenkins Hume Region Palliative Care Consortium Manager.
They team were very impressed with the work that had been done to date, and have offered their ongoing support, including providing education opportunities for our local doctors, nurses and the Rosehaven team.
National Palliative Care Week 2021 will be held from Sunday 23 May – Saturday 29 May, with the theme “Palliative Care It’s more than you think.”, which seeks to raise awareness about the many benefits of quality palliative care.” Dr Chi Li will be providing a medical practitioners / nurses discussion on the evening of the 24th May and Lynne and Pauline have offered to come and provide education to Rosehaven volunteers on skin assessments, pressure area care and activities of daily living in a palliative care sense.
Rosehaven has started their volunteer training days on Monday afternoons, we will be covering all 9 modules of the Palliative Care Victoria training package. Rosehaven was successful in obtaining a grant from Mansfield Shire Council’s Community resilience and recovery funding, and hope that these sessions are informative and brings like-minded people together, that will be of valuable assistance to the work that Rosehaven is doing in creating a compassionate, caring community, providing an end of life and respite care in a home like environment.
